What Is PayPal Friends & Family?
When sending money through your personal PayPal account, you can choose whether it’s a “Friends and Family” payment or a “Goods and Services” payment.
(We are only able to accept payments sent via PayPal "Friends and Family")
How To Use PayPal Friends & Family
In order to send money using PayPal friends and family, you need to have a PayPal account.
(You can set one up for free here).
Sending money with PayPal "Friends & Family" only takes a few steps:
- Login to your PayPal account.
- Click "Send & Request".
- Under "Send money", enter the email that we provided you with.
- When prompted, select "Sending to a friend".
- Enter the proper amount and include your order number as the note. Then click "Continue".
- Finally, click "Submit".
Note: PayPal friends and family may not be available in some countries.
Who Can Use PayPal Friends & Family?
Friends and Family payments can be made for free (from your bank account or PayPal) for anyone living in the United States.
If you are paying from outside the United States, you may be charged a transaction fee equal to 5% of the send amount (up to $4.99 USD).
If you pay with a debit or credit card, PayPal will charge a processing fee—for both domestic and international transactions. Currently the rate is 2.9% + a fixed fee (varies by currency; $0.30 in the U.S.).
